Three provinces in one day

 10th august

Up and out first thing. Loaded up the truck and said a fond farewell to Lake Winnipeg, then drove back to the airport. Unfortunately our flight was delayed by a couple of hours, and our roasted pine nut hummus was too big to bring through security. Sad times.

Uneventful flight and we eventually arrived at about 5pm at Calgary airport, with compensation vouchers in our hot sticky mitts. We found our next hire car (disappointingly a Toyota Corolla, rather than a Dodge Ram!), stuffed our bags in the boot and went to get a compensation-funded pizza in the airport.

Then we headed towards the Rockies. We had a 3 hour drive ahead of us… and a car with no sat nav, minimal comfort levels (compared to what we had become used to) and minimal maps… what could possibly go wrong?

Nothing!

Highlight of the day: the view from the highway when you are leaving Calgary and the Rockies are rising up in front of you. They have big skies round here. Big skies.

Three hours later, we arrived safely at our motel and collapsed into bed.

Provinces: Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia. One time zone change, one hour gained. Swapped vast, flat agricultural plans for snow-capped and tree-covered mountains.

Adventure score: 6/10

Tiredness rating: 8/10

A full day in Prague

Blimey, did we sleep well? Littlun and I got up and went for a little run to explore a bit more and visit the rather excellent-looking baker...
