12th august
Bit of a silly day today, to be honest: 11 hours in the car, 300 miles…
Breakfast at the motel, then filled up with fuel, bought enough snacks to sink a battleship and headed back off up the road towards Banff. Headed north this time, first stop: Lake Louise. Except not. Parking full, no park and ride tickets available. What??? We stopped anyways to use the loo then headed north again.
So many picturesque views: Canada has added lakes and mountains to the “trees and rocks and rocks and trees” thing.
Bow lake
Peyto lake
Mistaya canyon
Icefields discovery centre
(Got a coffee from the highest Starbucks in Canada, winter only!)
Sunwapta falls
Athabasca falls
Jasper. We stopped at a diner for tea, then headed an hour further up highway 16 towards Tete Jaune Cache and our accommodation.
